The new brand for KIHARA, a division of Sony Music, was crafted with a holistic and adaptable approach to accommodate various artists with their unique styles under one cohesive brand. The visual solution embodies a progressive yet timeless vibe, positioning KIHARA at the cutting edge of intimate cinematographic production and music culture. Drawing inspiration from the walkman logo, the brand identity utilizes bold and flexible design elements reminiscent of fashion and magazines, catering to diverse content styles. The primary logomark features customized typography that represents a community of artists while avoiding specific music eras or styles. It incorporates multiple typefaces to create a unified wordmark with subtle curvature, symbolizing the flow and movement of KIHARA's music style.
The secondary brand symbol pays homage to the walkman logo with an organic, abstract shape representing the letter 'k', conveying a sense of fluidity and growth in music. The typography aligns with Sony Music branding, while a neutral black and white palette allows artists to shine, making the brand identity a versatile canvas for musical expression.
